West Bengal will go through the 2009 general elections in 3 phases. The state has 42 seats and traditionally this state is a strong hold for the Communists Parties. With all the episode of Mamata and Tata/Singur it will be interesting to see the impact of these in the general elections. If CPI-M manages to perform well in the state then the third front will be strong.

Nomination started for The PC - Coochbehar, Alipurduars, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Raiganj, Balurghat, Maldaha Uttar, Maldaha Dakshin, Ghatal, Jhargram, Medinipur,Purulia, Bankura, Bishnupur(SC). Last date for filing is 09.04.2009
2nd phase nomination will start from 11.04.2009
3rd phase nomination will start from 17.04.2009
