Nandan Nilekani appointed as Chairperson of UID

Nandan Nilekani of Infosys has been appointed as the Chairperson of Unique Identification Scheme (UID), a project by the union central Government.

This newly created position will be equivalent to a Cabinet Rank minister and Shri Nandan Nilekani has been appointed for the same.

The functioning of Unique Identification Authority of India and the activities to be performed by it would serve multiple objectives. The authority shall have the responsibilities to lay down plan and policies to implement Unique Identification Scheme (UID), shall own and operate the Unique Identification Number database and be responsible for its updation and maintenance on an ongoing basis.

Yashwant Sinha quits BJP

Former central Minister and Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha has quit the party, this is according to the TV news channels. Some news sources are reporting this as an internal revolt in the party.

Yashwant Sinha has raised many post poll decisions by the BJP. One TV channel has shown the party president talking about disciplinary action against anyone.

Currently Yashwant Sinha is the BJP party Vice President.

In the earlier NDA Government Yashwant Sinha has held the posts of External Affairs and Finance Minister posts. If this decision is accepted then this will be a major jolt to the BJP.
